Today I watched the US team win 5 and a half points out of a possible 6 against an international team that played very well. Despite their talents and good play, the only half point the international team got was from a conceded putt on the eighteenth green from over 3 feet; and only that because Jack Nicklaus suggested that his team concede.
Reminiscent of the Ryder Cup at Royal Birkdale and Jack’s concession to Tony Jacklin.
As a South African, it was hard for me to see Ernie Els miss the putt on the eighteenth green to potentially halve the match, but as a US citizen, I was proud of my American team.
